everytime i try to burn something with my lite on 40x at any speed (24x, 32x, or 40x) the whole system slows down.
mouse movements becomes realy slow. cant function much. i am on a pentium 1.6a chip @ 2133mhz and p4b533.
does anybody know why is it doin this? thanks

Totally ignoring the fact that installing Win2K AS for workstation duties is really dumb...

You probably don't have DMA enabled on the CDRW, PIO mode will kill your box under heavy load.

hahah no not dumb is just the fact that i use terminal services from work to log on my box for some remote purposes. heh. whats the difference between DMA and PIO? thanks

There are other, arguably better, solutions for remote access than buying an OS that costs as much as Win2K AS.

Basically:
DMA lets the device copy the data, freeing the CPU.
PIO makes the host CPU copy the data.

Maybe your I/O subsystem is nowhere near the price of your OS. Get SCSI? Or maybe its the fact I haven;t touch used IDE in a while?
