Hi

Well here's my problem, when I first bought my new computer it kept shutting down when I tried to install windows 2000 , me or 98 it just wouldn't get past the installation so I tried leaving my case opened and the problem dissapeared, but I still noticed frequent lock ups and some unwanted reboots/shut downs. So I installed 2 extra fans one in front the other in the back of the case , and I changed the ps just to make sure. Then everything seemed to be running fine except that I'd get lock ups when playing UT at 1280*1024 with all details max or Sacrifice same res as UT and details maxed also, in sacrifice it even went as far as to shut down the system completely .Just to be sure I ran X-ISLE to try and stress my video card and when I put the res at 1600*1200 with details at max 5 seconds later the comp would lock up.Same thing with 3d mark's nature test keeps locking up at 1280*1024.I just find it quite odd that after installing two extra fans my system still locks up especially when nothing is overclocked I know the geforce 3 runs hot but to need 2 extra fans that just seems a little odd to me.Oh and when touching the video cards cpu you notice that it's working very hot.

AMD thunderbird 1333 Mhz (installed via 4 in 1 )
AMD reccomended power suply 300W ( changed this one 2 times so i'm sure it's not broken )
Gigabyte GA-7DX (F3 bios installed )
Asus V8200 Deluxe Gef 3 ( 12.60 drivers taken from the asus site )
Creative 52 x cd-rom
Maxtor diamond max plus 60 gb
256 MB of PC2100 DDR
Win 2000 Pro ( tried 98 and Me and I get the same problems )

How is your cpu temp??
and did you make sure that you have good contact between HS and cpu? (installing extra fans won't really help the cpu if the contact between HS and cpu is not good)

That's what's odd the temp of the cpu is at 53c, the paste has been changed, and why when running dozens of applications at the same time I never get a problem ut when I start a game every screws up just now I played NFS and the computer just shutted down, and I know i'm not pushing the video card to it's limits at 1280*1024 it shouldn't be so.The video card is at 55 idle

Funny, I have the same problems with my system. It's a MSI K7T-Pro2A with a Duron 750 running Win2k
I haven't solved the problem yet, but I have ruled out the sound card (have a SB live that doesn't like this motherboard much). I only have a TNT video card though. Latest drivers for everything... I wonder if it's a power supply problem or if it's heat related. Or possibly it's a memory problem (got 2 old 64MB PC100).
