System sees only 1008mb of ram

I got 2x512 sticks, but only shows up in bios and windows as 1008mb? It pass memtest, but I don't know why it shows up as 1008mb?

System:
Intel E6700
Asus P5B-VM
A-Data 2x512mb

Hmm, I was gonna suggest that an integrated video card was "sharing" 16mb of ram thus not giving it to the rest of the PC to use, but I don't think the P5B has integrated graphics. Perhaps it's some type of conversion error somewhere or maybe something else on the board is using those 16mb as a buffer and getting it before the bios does it's little memtest?

The P5B-VM does have integrated graphics, but I'm using a pcie card with graphics disabled. My bios section under "Northbridge Configuration" settings?

Memory Remap Feature [Disabled]
Configured DRAM Timing by SPD [Enabled]
Initiate Graphics Adapter [PEG/PCI]
Internal Graphics Mode Select [Disabled]
DVMT Mode Select [DVMT Mode]
DVMT/FIXED Memory [256mb]
PEG Force x1 [Disabled]

From browsing though the bios, thats the only place I see internal graphics, unless there is something I missed.

Nevermind, I found out why. The manual says 16mb is reserved for "Intel Quiet System Technology".

Sorry I guessed wrong about the integrated graphics. And thanks for replying that you figured it out. That's good info to know 🙂
