System seems to get janky

i have no clue whats wrong...its a athlon 700, geforce 256, SB live value, 384mbs ram running win98 se
the system gets janky...mouse moves then outa no where it stops then starts does that like 5times in arow then stop for about 25-1min then it does it again...it does this with video, sound, mouse and anything i do on it...this is starting to make me mad...i've tried taking the ram down to 128-256 incase it was 98 choking. but that wasn't it. any ideas would be helpful

What are your system resources?

80-85% everything but the systray is disabled in the start up

Have you tried upgrading drivers/bios, including the newer 4 in 1s.

i didn't notice this before but it seemed to lose time over the night....(i left it on) about 5hours or so
