System Runs ... then gets into reboot cycle

The computer is an older system that I just use for Distributed Computing crunching.

It is originally a Gateway Bryant 633C ... it is stock except for:

1. Replaced the Celeron 633 with a Pentium III 800
2. Replaced the PSU Fan ... (the original was starting to fail)

Here are the symptoms:

After being off awhile ....

Boot up computer ... it runs at 100% load for 1-2 days then starts rebooting. It will boot and run after getting to Windows XP for perhaps 3-5 minutes then reboots.

This computer came with a 90W PSU (but only 70W on +3.3V & +5V combined.

My initial suspicion is that the PSU is right on the edge and, perhaps, overheats ... dunno

When it gets into it's rebooting loop ... the LED Fan in the PSU dims and brightens a lot. When it is running normally (booted after a few hours power off rest) ... the LED Fan glows a constant bright blue.

I disconnected and removed the fan from the Heatsink for the processor and this lets it run a few minutes longer each time it boots ... perhaps 5-7 minutes.

Still sounds suspiciously like an underpowered PSU.

What I have done at this point ... as a test ... is connect up a 300W PSU to the computer and leave it run.

Any suggestions or comments???

Actually, there is not a big difference in power consumption
between the P3 Celeron 633 and the P3-800.

The Celeron consumes 17w and the P3-800 21w (each @1.7v)

It was not a wise idea to remove the cooling from the CPU
(can easily damage it in a minute or 2).

Did you add anything else other than an CPU Upgrade?
