System review/advice

Hi all! I am new to the forum and just wanted to ask a question, hope this is the appropriate forum!

I'm about to upgrade from a generic k6-450 system to the following:

AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz
3 x 128mb Hyundai PC133 SDRAM
ASUS A7V ATA-100 Motherboard
IBM GXP75 7200rpm 45Gb HDD
ASUS V7700 32mb DDR Geforce 2 GTS Deluxe
Pioneer 16x Slot-loading DVD
SB Live! Platinum 5.1
SB DTT5.1 Speaker system
Logitech iTouch cordless Keyboard + Mouse

I was wondering if anyone could advise on whether its a decent system and what sort of performance I will be able to expect out of it. Any tips or advice also would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

That is a very powerful system! You are going to get alot out of it! I like the keyboard and mouse cause I got the same setup too Logitech iTouch Keyboard and Cordless Mouseman Wheel. One thing you are missing... A CD-Writer! For a system that is so up beat you should be looking for something like a Plextor 12X10X32 or maybe the Iomega which is the same Plextor in disguise, or for more speed go for the Yamaha 16X CD Writer! But everything else looks OK.

Ahhh yes, it's a matter of finances I am actually holding off for a couple of months for that exact Plextor drive - I've heard great stuff about it - and a Mitsubishi 17NF 17" Flatscreen monitor so I probably should have mentioned that.

No problem! Good to help out! And after you have added the final bits to it then the computer shold last you for well more than 5 years I should say, but by then You might have wanted stuff which is faster... But that computer will last you ages! Ad are you also planning to OC (Overclock) the CPU or anything? Because it would be a good thing to do to get more MHz for the money you paid! Just remember to have a good heatsink and fan to keep stuff running cool! Oh and what case are you getting also?

The case I'm getting is just a stock standard AOpen KF-45 w/ 300w. I have had a bit of a look at the overclocking sites and such and know that the potential is there but I'm new to it and would really hate to screw something up, so I don't think I'm going to actually bother any overclocking until I'm outside of warranty.

If you know the case can you recommend any case fans or such that would be suitable?

with the rate of computer growth, where by 2005 chips will be running at 10GHz, i don't really forecast any systems now will be decent after 2 1/2 yrs.
