System Restore Question using Windows XP

Using Windows XP System restore, I deleted very important files. Is there a way to retrieve those file that were deleted after the system restore? Is there a way windows can go back to the original date before I tried the system restore?

Thanks in advance guys. I really need some ideas.
 
Wrong forum n00b!!

You should be able to restore to pre-restore time. I'm at work on 2000 so I can't check. Someone else pipe in if I'm wrong.
