System randomly boots up on shutdown! Please help!

Hello all, thanks for the help in advance!

My computer randomly restarts whenever I shut it down! It goes through the shutdown process normally and I even hear the hard disks spinning down but the fan (I think it's the power supply) continues to run and then the system restarts! I don't even get a blue screen or any type of error messages. I disabled the "automatic restart" in the "My Computer" properties. I've uninstalled "Adaptec EZ Creator." This happens randomly but I noticed its frequency occuring more often within the last 2 weeks.

I'm running a custom built Athlon 1800+, 512 MB, XP Pro, Service Pack 2, but this started before SP2 was installed. Do you think this is a software malfunction? I built the computer using some cheap Fry's parts but I've never had a problem like this before. I hope the frequency of the failure is not suggesting a slow meltdown!

One possibility is the network or modem -- go into the BIOS and make sure you've turned off the "Wake on XXX" features.

I had this same problem on my pc at work. It started happening right after I installed ez cd creator.

At work I have the fix downloaded but I did a search on the roxio site and came up with this:

Try looking at the support area/forums on the roxio site for more help.
