Depending on what you do, the celeron will probably bounce along faster - XP sure likes its ram... Is it a northwood P4?

XP loves lots of RAM.

The Celeron will easily outperform the P4 you mentioned since it has 3x the amount of RAM. The P4, while having a fast CPU, will constantly be bogged down from lack of RAM and the CPU won't work to its potential. It'll be using the HD as a swap file all the time.

Um...if you can afford more memory, go with the p4. If you can't, that p3 based celery should be pretty good.
