I built a PC this weekend with a used mobo and two new sticks of Kingston DDR2100 256 memory. At first I noticed that the System properties said 256 as the memory even though both sticks were in. As a matter of fact it was the first time I checked it so it may never have read 512. Anyway Stick 1 had some of the gold material chipped off the connector so I thought that was the problem. But using Stick 2 by itself gave me a "C1" error and the PC never booted up. BUT when I put the chipped Stick 1 in the first bank AND Stick 2 in the second bank it says "511 MB".
Should I be concerned at all? Somebody says that is normal.
Not sure what ir says when it boots up.
