Hi y'all,

Just kidding, it's not that serious. I am having the wierdest problem with my gameport. I have installed two different microsoft gamepads, which worked before I rebooted the system, and neither of them registers as "OK" in the game controler window. I have recently rebooted my sytem with 98se and installed the latest SBLive drivers and DX7a. I'm dumfounded, anyone help?

As Always,
D

Just an update, does anyone know of a virus program that can give ~100% correct results? I am currently using Norton (recently updated) and I believe it might be missing something. This problem with the game pads is just too unique, when everything else seems to be working. Any thoughts will help.

As Always,
D

Here are the things I would try:

1) Go to the "Advanced" properties in the Game Controllers control panel. The Port Driver Assignment for the gamepads should be the gameport on your SB Live!. If it is set to that, try the standard driver and see if it works. If it is set to standard, reset it to the SB Live! controller.

2) Add another game controller to the control panel and see if it works. If it does, remove and then reinstall the gamepads.

3) In the Device Manager see if the gameport for your SB Live! is listed and make sure no errors are being reported.

4) Try running the Add New Hardware wizard and see if it finds anything (Windows should automatically detect new hardware on startup, though...).

I hope one of those helps:eek::)
