Hello all,

I have an Epox 8RDA+ with an FSB of 195 and a Multi of 12.5. Here is the question so I run Prime95 and after about 5 min I get 1 error and it stops. I decide to leave it and use the system as I normally would and I get no artifacts or system lockups and all my I resource intensive games work fine ie UT2003 ect so what is the deal? I guess I was expecting stability problems since it failed Prime but it's running perfectly cpu temp are 41C unloaded and 45c after two hours of gaming...
Mem: settings: 5,2,2,2

Prime95 is supposed to find all system instabilities. Your system is very likely not completely stable, but the programs you're using either don't stress it far enough, or use that part of your processor. (I think it's like that...)

5min into prime95 means its not stable

another utility, memtest86

anwyas, either raise vcore a bit, or lower overclock

Try easing back on the RAM settings a bit and test again. If that doesn't help, try lowering your overclock. Ease back one part at a time so you can find out what it is that's unstable.

Thanks guys ok I'll try lowering the FSB to 190 and reduce my mem timings to say 6,3,3,2
My G4 120 card is oced tro 280/560 should I lowr as well? My memory is 1 stick of Corsair PC3200 512M

Thanks,

Hey Tao,

I checked your rig we are running the exact same except I'm using a Gainward g4 card so what is your mem timings? Maybe I should try those.

Hmm, I am using the same memory on the same motherboard and I ran 195MHz FSB x 11.5 for 12 hours of Prime95 fun with no crashes. With the same timings no less.

I'm at a loss Sponge. :( The only thing I can suggest is that you lower your multiplier and see if that fixes anything.

Well where did you get your board Tao? I got mine at Fry's and not sure if they source substandard stuff. I plan on doing the VDD mod to see if I can improve things by uping the Vdd to 1.8V we shall see. I really want to hit 200 FSB stable that is the goal.

The videocard isn't affected by prime95 at all. If your 3d apps crash on you often, or you see speckles (ocing ram too far..) or you get weird lockups that might be a sign of overclocking the card. But IMO if UT2k3 is fine I guess you should be good to go.

As for exact same chips that isn't necessarily true. Different weeks of processors oc different- there are guys hitting 1.9Ghz with their Treb A 1700+ and even a few pushing 2 Ghz but i'm stuck at 1796 (can't go above 1.8 but i'm stuck at 1750 b/c of the psu and coldboot isuess) so it really depends

I could be wrong, but I don't think your video card will affect that.

I bought it online from NewEgg.com a few weeks back. I doubt that Epox has a system of classifying bad and good boards. It's probably more the luck of the draw than anything.

Well my chip is an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ Rev "B" stock 1730 Mhz @2400.1Mhz I got it from new egg it's supposed to be the "Good One :)" Well let me try relaxing the ram timings and see what happens just wondering is the CPU or the board but things seem to be point to the CPU no? Here are my other settings:

VDD: 1.58V
VCore: 1.77V over volts to 1.8V
VDimm: 2.77V
FSB: 192
Multi: 12.5
AGP Freq: 66Mhz
Mem: 100% sync

My MB rev is 1.1
SiS Sandra says I am running at equivalent P4 2.66
