I got Mezmerize a while ago for $6 (yay yourmusic.com ) and I was wondering how Hypnotize compared to it. Any gems like B.Y.O.B., Cigaro, and Question! on there?

Unfortunately no. It's a good CD, but when compared to Mezmerize it's not even in the same league.

Mezmerize is such an awesome CD, I was hoping Hypnotize would be its "part 2."

Any specific tracks I should listen to before buying to decide if it's really worth the $12 or not?

I was introduced to SoaD through "Steal This Album!" though, I haven't heard Toxicity save for two or three songs.

I think it is a good CD, but I agree with Poulsonator. It is not as good as Mezmerize. It does have several songs that I really do like though. More to chill and go to a deeper place than to rock out to.

Well, if you can get a full listen before buying then by all means do that.

Stealing Society, Hypnotize and Lonely Day...Soldier Side. Those are my faves (not a big fan of U-Fig, Dreaming). Like I said, it's a good album but when compared to Mezmerize...just not my fave SOAD.

My personal favorite from Hypnotize is Vicinity of Obscenity.

Go get their old Albums. They are GOLD

If you have one of Mezmerize/Hypnotize I would definately get the other.

Lonely Day is very good and Soldier Side is a cool conclusion to Soldier Side (Intro).

After both of them coming out at the same time I can't say Hypnotize has as many stand out songs, but its still very good. I would get it if you enjoyed Mezmerize.
