I have a Shuttle SN41G2 v2 that I use moderately, mainly as a server and secondary game PC. I have a 6800 XT 256MB AGP 8x graphics card and a Voodoo 4500 PCI graphics card installed for backwards compatability with a Win98 dual boot for older Glide games. I disabled the Vodooo 4500 in control panel for WinXP because I have no use for it and don't need issues because of it. I have used this PC fairly frequently, and haven't updated anything recently. Only started to change video drivers since PC started acting flakey with video.
Just recently when I go to boot the PC, the system POSTs fine, I get the "Windows XP" logo when booting, then a black screen. AFter about 30 seconds the system reboots. On a few occasions, my BIOS info got a little screwed up, but after a power down and up again, all seemed fine for POST, but not Windows.
I booted to Safe Mode, uninstalled nVidia drivers, and used Driver Cleaner Pro to remove any remaining remnants. System boots back into Windows just fine then. As soon as I go to reinstall the graphics drivers, the system balks, and won't even complete the install. I have tried older 84.xx drivers, and a couple of the newest drivers all resulting in the same issue.
Anyone recognize this issue? What can I do to prevent it?
Thanks.
