We had a storm last night, and my system no longer boots this morning. I don't know if the storm had anything to do with it because I do use a surge protector.

Anyway, I think the power supply, motherboard, or both, are dead. I'm trying to figure out which one.

When I test the power supply with my tester - all lights are on, except the -5V light does NOT come on. Also, the red DANGER light comes on!!!

With the 4-pin connector still attached to the motherboard, when I test the power supply, the motherboard fans do start turning.

What do you think?

I am not an expert but I have had almost this same exact thing happen to me. I just got up one morning and the puter wouldn't turn on. I had homework to do so I rushed the computer to the shop; turns out it was my memory. I had just installed an aditional 2 gigs and as soon as they computer guy yanked it out (the new sticks) the computer booted right up. Just thought post this in case it turns out NOT to be your PSU.
