System Monitor - Performance Counter Category descriptions are gone

So, I go to Start...Programs...Administrative Tools...Performance


And then I click the '+' sign in the System Monitor toolbar and the dropdown list of Performance objects is all numeric ID values and not the text of the category.


Any ideer what causes this and how to fix it so the category descriptions show up?



Winders XP Pro SP 2, btw.



EDIT: n/m...fixed it by copying the perf*.* files from my desktop PC to this laptop I'm using temporarily. Did the trick.
