Im about to upgrade my computer....finally.. And im trying to decide how much memory to put in it. I see everyone these days is going for 1Gb of ram. Do they really need 1Gb of ram?

Im thinking 512MB will be plenty for playing games....even the newer games coming out.

(I currently have 512MB and have had 512mb for a loooong time now....)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated..

512MB is enough, but 1GB is better. I've noticed that games are smoother with 1GB.

Get 1 stick of 512. If you think you need more, pick up another one. 512 is enough for me at home generally, but I don't game.

ok so i have a question to add to this... im also buying a new pc and debating the RAM factor... now if new games are pushing for the 1gb mark with ram should i go for more (assume im rich... but im not :( lol) can u get 3 512MB chips in.. or 1x 1GB chip and 1x 512 aswell... or is it wiser to go from 1gb to 2gb and not make the 512 jump in between (although preferable $$$)
