Now, I'm not all too familiar with what happens to a computer when it overheats, but i hear it "locks up". Now, what this refers to exactly I don't know, but what I do know is this: during the course of this night, my computer has simply stopped functioning 3 times. it was like windows was freezing but not really, cuz there was no error or anything, just suddenly my mouse would stop responding, and I couldn't ctrl+alt+del my way to safety, like I usually can with win2k. now, the system is running a lot hotter than normal, but I don't know if its in the red zone. the system temp was about 86 degrees and the cpu was about 136-140 when this happened the second time. I'm running a thunderbird 1.33 Ghz, not oc-ed or anything, but the fan i have is pretty bad, and I don't have a system fan. Now, the video card thing was that I got my tnt2 ultra back from legacy support after a broken fan caused me problems, and i think its a new video card. I don't know what that would have to do with anything, but i thought I'd enter it as evidence. thanks guys, you're down.

ok nevermind it's the video card. It's a TNT2 Ultra chipset, I'm running the Detonator 3 drivers and I have an MSI K7 master motherboard. let's get it on.

To eliminate the heat aspect, remove your case and have a small fan blow into your case(or a big fan, small one is quieter). If the problem continues, try a different video card.
