System locks up after long idle...

I just put together a new system and after long idle times, the system hangs. Otherwise, this system works perfectly. My system is built on a Soltek 75KIV uATX mb (KT133A) with Athlon 900MHz, 256M Crucial CL2, onboard sound, GeForce 2 MX 32M AGP, 15G Maxtor, LiteOn 16x burner, D-Link wireless nic, Win98-SE. I have tried all sorts of variations with screen saver and power saving settings and have had no luck. Please help!
