Okay my system locks after its been inactive for some time. when i try to bring my system back to life after long inactivity, at first the mouse moves fine but once i click any program to start it freezes on me?

Also both in start up and shut down, my system goes to sleep for up 40-60sec (ie no HDD activity) thus it really increases boot and shut down times? any ideas?

Turn off any AV background programs and disable power management. You should then enjoy a very stable system.

You should definitely shut off all the power management functions (in your bios) if your PC locks up often.

That is a major cause of lockups.

okay i have every thing already off (i checked) only following functions have some value to them because there is no option to disable them:

ACPI Sleep Type
AC Back Function

What values should there have?(i cant recall what my bios currently has) and does this have anything to do with system lock ups?
