I'm not entirely sure this deals with the cooling aspect of the setup but I don't know where else to post.
I built a comp for my brother:
MSI KT4VL
Athlon XP 2000+ ( 133 at 12.5/13 ratio)
Kingston 512 PC2700
MSI GeForce Ti4200, 128 MB
using on-board sound (creative never worked)
anyways, the problem I am having is when my bro begins to record from the line-in. We have turntables so we record frequently. but at around the 35+ min mark of recording the system locks up.
Might be on-board situation, but for now i'm thinking it has to do with cooling. why? well first off his cpu and system is pretty hot.
Just checked right now and his cpu is on average 67 C
checked his system and its about 38 C
Its using the stocked HSF it came with, and 67 IMO is too hot.
so beside the fact that i need to get a new fan, what is your opinion on the system lock down? I know its very broad and can be anything but CAN it be mainly cpu related and cooling? or maybe a RAM factor? on-board works fine. i installed the correct drivers and all.
any input on my problem is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
