System keeps shutting down

I've been having problems with my system (signature) shutting down and running hot lately. Finally it would not post. I changed the ram to the other 2 slots and it is running fine for the time being. By switching the ram to the other slots would that mean my motherboard is going bad?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would improve your case cooling with extra fans if possible. Could be the cpu or board northbridge chipset is overheating. If your room temps are warm (above 80 degrees F), then you might have to shut down the system after about an hour's use to let it cool off. I use my a/c sparingly, but have 2 120mm fans for my system.
