System keeps restarting by itself when I plug in the external Zip Drive

Hi, my friend has AMD XP 1600 on Shuttle AK31 and the OS is XP. Whenever he plugs in the IOMega external zip drive (parallel port), the system keeps restarting by itself. It's not even go to the login screen. He already uses the latest BIOS and the latest VIA 4in1. So does anybody know what's wrong with it and how to solve it? Thanks

yes, I did uninstall it. As a matter of fact, I didn't install any drivers yet. It's not even go to the login page.

yes, I did try that also. I plugged out the zip drive, installed the drivers and then it's still the same thing. It always rebooted when it wanted to go to the login screen.

So I have no clue what's wrong with it. Any other help please... thanks

<< so then, did you try installing the drivers first and have xp go looking for the device? 😉 >>

it's not even go to the login screen so there's no way XP can detect the device.

Have you tried changing the Parallel Port Settings in your BIOS, The ZIP Drive probably requires ECP or EPP, can't hurt to try.
