System keeps rebooting by itself

Hi, i'm having this problem with my computer and i have no idea what it could be. its a new system composed of the following:

Athlon XP 1.53
Volcano 7+
ECS K7VTA3
512 PC2700 DDR (Mushkin)
Western Digital 80 GB Caviar
Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4200
LiteOn cdrw
DVD drive

anyway, i installed Win XP pro and after i downloaded the new nvidia drivers and start the install, the system would reboot and once that happens, it won't ever boot up windows again. it'll just keep rebooting once it gets back the Win XP loading screen. i tried running pinball and the same thing happens. IE seems to run fine though.

i've tried swapping out the ram, video card, hard drive, power supply but to no avail. if anyone has any idea on what the problem could be. someone told me it might be the built in raid controllers on the motherboard but i'm not familiar with that. i'd appreciate it very much. thanks.

hey, i checked out the link but it doesn't talk about the problem that i am encountering. they describe problems related to shutting down the system but it reboots instead, but my problem is that the system just automatically reboots itself when i'm trying to run a program! anyone have any ideas? thanks.

look in system properties>advanced>startup & recovery>settings & uncheck automatically restart.
this will at least give you an error message to work with instead of the pc rebooting!

hi bacillus,

i turned off the auto restart option, but lately the system has been kinda stable, but only when i run the cpu at 1150 mhz (100 fsb). when i set the jumpers to 133 fsb so the chip can run at 1.53 Ghz like its supposed to, windows won't even load before i get an error message. does this mean the chip is defective or something on the motherboard? thanks.
