I have been having this problem with my computer locking up several times each day for the last several months and nothing seems to help. I have changed the cpu twice, (celeron both overclocked and not). I have changed the memory, gone from Win 98 to win 98SE. Changed harddrive and and checked it out with Norton Utilites several times. The only thing I haven't changed is my Video card a Geforce 2MX 32 Mb clone which I have up dated the drivers on a regular basis. I am running this on a Abit BH6 V1.2 motherboard. Could it be the Video card as I installed it just a few months before I noticed this problem?

My guess is that anything that's added recently may be your problem.

Do the lockups occur during gaming? That's a big clue. If your getting lockups while in the desktop or MS apps, my guess it's not your vid card.

My card locksup occationally due to heat... I overclocked my vid cards also ... so when my room temp gets above 80 I have lockups.

My advice is to put the old vid card back in and see if it goes away.

I'd still try putting the old card back in ... That may save you a lot of headaches for the moment. If your problem is still there, you know something else is the problem.

Good luck...

What kind of Power Supply are you using? Have you tried replacing that to see if maybe your rig isn't getting enough juice?
