Running an Athlon Classic 800@900 with Arctic Circle; Epox K7XA (with latest bios); 192 mb PC-133 Apacer; Win98; Geforce 2 GTS (latest Nvidia ref driver; GTS overclocked a little); WD 27.3; cable modem with software tweaks. Cursor freezes OFTEN in IE5 (and IE5.5), and when trying to run many SiSoft Sandra benchmarks; probably some other programs as well. I must restart the computer each time. I can run Quake3 all day with no problems. No programs in startup menu; sufficient system resources; virtual memory fixed @ 256. Disabling NAV and Norton Internet Security has no effect on problem. Help needed; thanks!

There were certain menus under sandra you may have to avoid. I cannot remember what exactly they were, it could be something around the system info.

Read the Sandra FAQ or hunt them down by elimination, i.e. running individual test and menu.

I had some Java problem with IE5 that crashed on the wintune website, I found it fix after I upgraded to IE5.5 and renewed java.

Check you swap usage. Using system monitor.

My Epox 7kxa has been rock solid with a 500M Athlon running at 745M CPU and 153M RAM on both linux and windows98, after a couple of BIOS updates.

I think nudging up the voltage on my proc may have done the trick. Live and learn. Thanks for your response!
