After setting up my new system 1.3 266 with 8kta3 I noticed that the system was very loud so I looked around and at first I thought it was the retail heatsink/fan but after taking a closer look it seems like HD's seem to be the major part in the noise. I Have 3 plus a cdrw. 2 Maxtor drives 5400/7200 and a WD/7200. After pulling the power from them and starting the system man did it prove to me that they are the source of the problem. But the thing is I had these same 3 in my old dell system which was not as loud as the new system plus the drives are running VERY HOT which seems to be hotter then the old system.

Is there anything i can do to taking the noise down??

Well if you really wanted to, no don't do that. Are the drives really close to eachother? Is the cage sturdy? Are the screws tight? All of the above? As for heat just one hard drive produces quite a bit on its own, add 2 more and you have a damn oven, especially since they are most likely really close to eachother. My screws arn't loose. Are your's? Try seperating the drives and put a free bay between each if you have the space.
