System Info

Hey there
I have a job to check out the specs of computers at schools in my area (goverment survey). Anyway, I was wondering if there was a program that I could load onto a bootable 1.44MB disk that would display the info. I only need to know CPU & speed, RAM, Hard disk size and CD-ROM speed. I don't want to waste time booting up the computers to check the system properties, and I don't know Unix, so if I get a computer with it installed I don't know how to check system specs. I could just use the BIOS info and boot with a win98 disk to check hard disk, but some computers don't display the CPU info clearly. How do I check NT systems (no device manager for CD-ROM speed). I hope you can help. ThanX.
