System has recovered from a serious error (?!)

System Specs: A7N8X-X, XP2800 Barton, 1Gig DDR333, FX5700 Ultra, XP Pro

For the last few days I've been getting "The System has recovered from a serious error" Everytime I boot into windows. The Technical report contains

"C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini041104-06.dmp".

At first it didn't bother me, but lately mafia has been locking up (since tonight) I played it all day today and its just started playing up tonight.

I think it has something to do with this "Serious Error"

The only new hardware I've added recently is another 512Mb of RAM, but that was about a week ago, and a Saitek P2500 gamepad yesterday (but I have been using this to play mafia today)

One more thing I noticed was that windows doesn't recognise the pad anymore since tonight...and even to get the LED on it to come on I have to take it out and put it back in, but it still wont work in game....this is annoying.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Cheers

Well, here's an answer from Microsoft. Resetting your pagefile.sys file will probably stop those errors.
There's a method to resetting that file; you can't just delete it inside Windows because you'll get an error
message. So, follow the instructions here:

How to reset Pagefile.sys to fix this problem

Can't speak to the other issue yet. See how this fix helps your initial issue first, then we'll see what's up with the hardware.

Thanks man, I did the work around (setting it to no page file then back to what it was) and I'm not getting the error anymore.

I figured out what was making mafia lock up aswell, its stupid of me really to have not noticed it. The joypad wasn't installed properly, it had a conflict. So I just reinstalled it and now its working and mafia isn't locking up anymore.

Thanks for your help.
