got a maxtor d740x-6L on AT last week and it seemed to have been working ok...
it was making loud noises (this is why i hate maxtors, they arent quiet like WD's) but nonetheless working just fine and passed the advanced test in powermax
so the drive has no errors...
it was in a big nasty looking case, so i got my dad a new one and when everything was installed, i turned it on, seemed to be working ok, but when it is about to boot to windows, it hangs at the "white bar screen"...you know, where it has a ton of little white bars at the bottom and it goes left to right with a solid white bar as a progress bar, then it goes into the newer looking boot screen with the logo in the middle, etc...
about 20% of the way through the "white bar screen" it just hangs...sometimes it doesnt even make it all the way to 20%
i took it out, put it in my computer, tested it again...flawless
