Hello:

This is what I have configured from excaliber.com:

1 Thermalright SLK-800 Heatsink

1 AMD Athlon XP2100+ 1.73GHZ 384K 266 Tbred B (TRAY) (AIUHB:0247)

1 ASUS A7N8X Deluxe V2.0 A/L/SATA/1394/R motherboard

1 Thermaltake Volcano 9 (A1365)

1 MAXTOR 80GB 7200RPM EIDE HARD DRIVE MODEL# 6Y080L0

2 Samsung PC3200 400Mhz DDR 512M 64X64

1 Sony 3.5" 1.44MB BLACK Floppy Drive -- OEM

1 LiteOn 16x XJHD166S Black DVD with software - OEM

1 Liteon 52x24x52 LTR52246S Black with software (OEM)

1 Chenming 301KE Black Aluminum Mid Tower /450W Power Supply

1 Eumax CC230BG Blue+Green 12" Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp

1 Thermaltake A1506 SMART CASE FAN II WITH ?COOLMOD?

Subtotal: $747.96

There is mainly a video card missing above but I have already, the Radeon 9500 PRO.

Are all these components enough or do I need something extra. I do plan to overclock my PC and so have all the extra cooling stuff. Also, I have installed a lot of hardware into my machine but never built one from scratch. Should I ask excaliber.com to assemble this for me for a hefty $25 ..:) .. or just do it myself. I do not know how hard it is going to be.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like a nice system. Do it yourself, though! Fun and you'll get experience

Am I not seeing straight or do you have a SLK-800+SF2 and then a Volcano 9? Just wondered why both HSF's? Also make sure you have enough juice on the 12V line, as some generic 450W's suck ass. Only other thing would be how many case fans that case comes with, as you might want one or two. Good luck man.

I've seen some offers at excaliberpc.com, is this the same company? Never did business with them, would like to know if it is a good place to buy?

You have a Thermalright SLK-800 Heatsink and a Volcano 9. Those are both hsfs, you only need one of them.

akshtray, I think what MrSmithers and shady06 are trying to point out are your items on lines 1 and 4. You have two heatsink/fan units chosen. Your reply back to them references your last line item, which is indeed a case fan. So, it appears you need to choose a hsf. I'm not an AMD guy, but I'm guessing that most on this forum will steer you toward to Thermalright hsf. Then you need to choose a suitable 80mm fan to use on it.

Re case fans, also consider the YSTech 80mm adjustable fan. Lots of places sell it, including 2CookTek and Newegg. I've had very good luck w/ this fan and you can dial in a wide range of speeds and corresponding noise levels.
