System freezes with SBC DSL

I gave a hand me down system to my son (Athlon 700 on Epox 128 ram) and it has a fresh install of Me and the latest 4 in 1s. The system worked fine for my wife with static DSL via a router at my house. Now it freezes with the SBC software in any app, sporadically. Any input would be appreciated.

Is the machine hooked up to a router or directly to the modem? If it is still hooked up to the router there should be no need for any software installed, unless of course it's setup differently when your wife was using it....and hooked up to the modem.

There might be a different issue here, it is possible that the problem may be due to something other then the SBC DSL, have you tried formatting and a fresh install of OS? I know formatting is a last ditched effort for many people but i dont mind it. Also, is this SBC DSL also static? seems like theres another problem here, i would try not using the SBC software and configuring it for DSL manually via the Networking properties Applet, it is very unusual to see a system freeze due to broadband connection, also any error that reports when it freezes would greatly help in the diagnosis of this problem, but for now i would suggest try manually configuring the system with out the SBC software, if that is really the problem.
Good Luck

The machine is hooked directly to the modem, using the SBC software. When my wife was finished, I formatted and did a fresh install of Me and the latest 4 in 1s. This was BEFORE the SBC software installation.
