System freezes when holding down a key

I just put this new system together yesterday and discovered an interesting issue: Whenever I hold down a key on the keyboard, the entire system will freeze (no mouse movement, no repeating letters being output, etc.) until the key is released (After it is released, the system will return to normal). If done for an extended time (~20s), my sound manager will report my headphones being unplugged and plugged back in.

My system:
Foxconn A7DA-S AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2
Mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel
250gb Western Digital SATA Hard Drive
Linksys Wireless-G Network Adapter
I'm using the onboard video, and sound
On Windows XP Pro SP2 32-bit
Generic PS/2 Keyboard

Nothing is Overclocked.

I've gone into the BIOS, and tried disabling the onboard sound and other features I am not using. I've got the latest drivers for my system as well. I also ran memtest86 overnight, and reported no errors after 7 passes.

Any ideas as to the cause of the problem? Is there some trivial thing I am forgetting to check?

When you hold down a key, it repeatedly sends the same keystroke signal to the system. You may be overloading the keyboard buffer.

It may be a problem in the way your motherboard handles this condition. Check for a BIOS update. You could also contact Foxconn's tech support.

Good luck. :)

I tried another keyboard that had a pS2 -> USB converter and it worked fine. I also tried that keyboard in the PS2 slot and it worked better than my current keyboard, but was slower than it should be (never actually froze though). I also tried my keyboard with the converter, and it worked as it should. Leads me to believe its something wrong with the PS2 port, or the way the motherboard handles the input from it. Is this something I should be worried about with the overall health of the mobo?
