Hello guys,
So my PC does this really annoying thing where it freezes/stutters for about 0.5 a second to 1.5 seconds and a buzzing sound comes out of the speakers, it sounds like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmJFVgOg34E
The video is not by me and the buzzing lasts for only 0.5 - 1.5 seconds.
It happens a few times every day. During net surfing, watching movies, or gaming.

When I built my system in May of 2015 I had Windows 8.1 pro installed and never noticed this problem.
I only started noticing it ever since I upgraded to windows 10.
I did a clean install, more than once actually, but the problem is still there.
All my drivers are up to date too.

Another thing that I feel I have to mention is that after moving to Win 10, the videos I recorded with ShadowPlay used to stutter alot, but I was able to solve that by setting the right time zone in the system.
Yeah I know it's a really weird solution but it worked. (I found this solution while searching for a way to fix the Windows Store as it was always crashing whenever I clicked on an app there. Setting the right time zone solved this problem too).

Anyway, this is my system:
CPU: i7-4790K
MotherBoard: Asus z97-a
GPU: MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8GB)
PSU: Corsair RM850
SSD : Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
HDD : Westren Digital Black 1TB
OS: Windows 10 (64bit) (genuine/legit version of course)

Thanks

What happens after the buzzing noise? Does it freeze, crash, or just go back to normal? Are there any unknown devices in device manager? I do think it's interesting that everything you listed doing when it happens could involve your video card speeding up. Might try running GPU-Z and see if the card is running too hot.

And this may seem too dramatic for the moment, but if you take out the MSI card and run on the Intel graphics, do you still have this problem?

After freezing and buzzing for 1 second it goes back to normal.
Everything is recognized in the device manager, nothing is unknown.
I'd say the temperature of my GPU is pretty normal, around 42° in normal use, and ~62° while gaming.

I might just try that later this week when I have some free time on my hand.

Thanks.

Try uninstalling the realtek audio device from Device Manager and then rebooting.

I've actually deleted the Nvidia HD audio driver 2 days ago using DDU.
And for the past 2 and a half days I haven't had a single freeze or buzz sound except for a small buzzing this morning with no freeze.
Although I'm not sure if it really was one because the PC didn't freeze and it wasn't as loud as it usually is.
And even if it really was, it's still a major improvement. One little incident like this in 2.5 days is a nothing compared to 5-10 a day.

I just didn't want to say anything because I wanted to be sure it was solved, and wasn't missing it when going to the bathroom, grabbing a glass of water, resting, etc'.

I'll post back in a few days and update you guys with the outcome.
Thanks.

Hi,
@BreezeN: Did you manage to solve the problem by uninstalling Nvidia sound driver? I have the same issue and almost the same configuration. I'll try this, but confirmation it works for longer time would be relieving.
Thanks.

Sounds like DPC latency.
Use a program to check it.

Disabling C1E/EIST helps a lot with it, but chances are you'll still see flair ups especially if you have a driver issue.

Neither of my Skylake pcs could fix that issue - and the laptop won't even let me disable C1E/EIST at all.
BIOS updates can fix (or introduce) dpc latency problems.

It's pathetic and retarded pretty much all modern computers have this issue...mobo makers dont even care usually.
