System freezes every "first" access to Explorer/My Computer/etc...

Hi, somehow my system would freeze for about 40 seconds at every first access to Windows Explorer on each bootup. It would seem to freeze whenever I open Windows Explorer, My Computer, or anything that accesses the drives. Though things return back to normal after this "first time freeze", I'd like to know if anyone might know what may be causing this weird freeze. I'm currently using ME and it also happened when I was using 98se...

Any inputs would be appreciated, thanks.

So you were able to make it go away? And my DMA is enabled for all the IDE drives.

Let me guess...via chipset? I had the same problem.

Get the via busmastering drivers, you'll get rid of that problem and get a minor speed increase too.
