system failure!@#

Here's my problem.

I have Iwill KK266. I had a duron 750 in there prior. The system worked flawlessly until I put a Athlon 1133mhz.

I put the athlon in and it booted for a second and it locked up right after the post. I cleared CMOS and rebooted and this time no post and no beeps to figure out my problem.

So far this is what I have done.

1. Contacted newegg and replaced the motherboard {but this time they gave me a raid version 😀}
2. Tried different dimms in different socket and tried a different dimm.
3. Took out my DVD ROM and CDRW
4. Resitted my Radeon
5. Tried a generic 250 watt power supply from my sister's computer
6. Tried to put in the duron 750 back
7. Hold on to insert key while I was cold booting

So far I have failed. The system won't boot nor sound after trying to put in the athlon.

Do you think it's the power supply? I have tried so many variations that I ran out of options. I think I'm going to go out and buy a new power supply and see if this works. If it doesn't I don't know what to do next.

Are you sure the new CPU is good?
Have you thrown the Duron back in a made sure you didn't mess anything up with static discharge or something like that?

Thorin, yes I put the duron 750 back and still no post.

I made sure to touch the back of the power supply before I inserted the CPU and hold on to the metal casing before I touch any of the components.

I'm going out right now to go get a new power supply. Please post some ideas if you have them other wise I'm doomed.

Dissassemble the whole computer. Set the mobo up on the desk. Give it a stick of ram, and use the new PSU. Put the duron 750 in it, put the hsf on. Put a reliable vid card in, and then clear the cmos. Make sure all jumper settings are set correctly, and try and boot it.

Sometimes a clear head and some positive thinking is all it takes 😀
Good Luck 😉
