System fails to post with new 6600GT

I just assembled a new system (chaintech VNF-250, socket 754) tonight. I also bought a pre-overclocked BFG Geforce 6600GT 128MB, AGP, with dual DVI outputs. With the 6600GT installed, the system doesn't post and no video is visible. I swapped in a really old AGP card (kyro II) and everything seems to work fine - it posts, displays boot text on the screen, etc. Yes, I installed the extra power connection to the 6600GT. I also disconnected all drives and tried multiple power connectors in case one was faulty. I also tried both DVI outputs, though since the system isn't posting I doubt that's relevant.

My conclusion - the 6600GT must be faulty somehow. Am I missing anything or is it time to head back to the store to exchange it?

Thanks for any help.

I just popped in a 6600gt (pcie) from XFX and there was suprisingly, no power connector for this card. Is there no power connector needed for pci express? It worked for about a half hour, now nothing shows on the screen. I would try the card in another machine before returning it.
