System failed memory test

A7N8X Deluxe, XP 2800, 512 megs PC 2700 Corsair XMS DDR RAM, Maxtor 7200 RPM hard drive, Radeon 9700Pro, Onboard sound and NIC, Antec Tru 430 Watt powersupply running Windows XP Home all updates. Verified Virus free 1/14/04. Latest BIOS flashed 1/13/04.

Problem: Boot up whether cold or restart often results in "System failed memory test" message and continues to boot OS. The problem is intermittent but becoming more frequent. Have run Memtest86 three different times including extended tests with no problems detected. Swapping RAM sticks out show no difference.

Problem existed before BIOS flash or Windows update and since.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

It's a well known fact that the post reporter is retarded. Turn it off in the BIOS and you'll never hear it again.

Note that memtest86 only tests as much memory as the system claims to have. If the system BIOS itself detected a memory error, then memtest won't even see the area with the bad spot.

When the error happens, does the system report less memory than you physically have?

Yah that was a sarcastic "how nice"

You have an issue, which all of have at one time or another...instead of giving up something constructive or just nothing, some people just have to prove themselve useless. Then unfortunately along comes another and jumps on the bandwagon.

Too bad, but I suppose all forums have their dead weight.

Same board....... same problem occassionally. I just reboot and next time it passes. I haven't played much with the BIOS, and wonder if the fast post is the problem. Trys to post before memtest is completed and therefore fails. Just a NooB thought eh!! Probably should either turn off the fast post or the post reporter.
