system doesn't detect RAM

I just installed a stick of PC-133 128MB RAM onto my Abit VH6II motherboard but my system doesn't detect the ram. I have a Celeron 466 with 128MB RAM and I was planning to upgrade to 256MB of RAM. What could I be doing wrong?

have you tried different slots?

Did you try replacing the original stick with the new one, and THEN installing the old RAM? Sometimes boards are finicky that way...
