I have a system which have window originally. while i was installing ubuntu , unexpectedly i formatted the whole 500GB system , in spite of overwriting it only over C drive which leads to loss of all the data i have in my system. Is there any ways to recover my data (which was present initially) from ubuntu ?

If I read this correctly, the 500GB drive was previously partitioned and when you went to install Ubuntu in the Linux portion of the drive, you accidentally allowed it to take over the entire drive, wiping out and overwriting the Windows partition.

Can you please provide a breakdown of the partitioning before and after?

Example:
Before - [ P1-Windows-300GB | P2-Linux-Swap-2GB | P3-Linux-Root-180GB ]
After - [P1 -Linux Swap-2GB | P2-Linux-Root-480GB ]

Previous partitions (windows)
c: 146 GB
d: 274 GB
e: 20 GB

After (in ubuntu)
465 GB (whole disk)

i am able to recover almost all data except one folder using TestDisk but when try to find the required one folder . it is showing empty.
