I've been recently having this problem when watching lengthy divx/asf. For example, a few minutes ago I was watching an episode of Stargat SG-1 in asf format using Windows Media Player. After about 14 minutes into the episode, the video and audio begin to lose sync. When I try to stop the asf, I find my system to be completely inaccessible. Pressing alt+ctrl+del, brings up the blue screen of death (which I haven't seen since Win98). I thought, maybe it was because I was watching the asf in full screen mode. So I rebooted my comp and started the asf from where I left off. This time maximized. After 29 minutes into the episode, my comp crashed again. I can't even get the task box to come up so that I can kill the vid. Only a blue screen of death from which I have no choice but to reboot.
I thought I had solved this problem about a week ago when I reinstalled the DivX 3.11alpha drivers after I tried to watch a divx of Who's Line Is It Anyway?. The same problem occurred then as well but after I rebooted and reinstalled the drivers, I was able to finish the episode without a problem. I was also able to see other asf's the other day without any problems. Now all of a sudden this problem is happening again.
Is there something else I can do? Can anyone figure why this is happening? I have the latest drivers for my graphics card installed and I'm using Win Media Player 6.4.07.1112, since I can't stand 7.0. I really don't know what else to do...
