System clock always slow...need something to sync the clock

Got these NEW DELL machines at work running W2K Professional. For some reason, the clocks ALWAYS running 3 mins slow. I can change the time manually, but in few hours, it goes right back to 3 mins slow again! I downloaded a software called "Nistime" which suppose to sync system time through Internet. I set it to sync every hour. But the software does not work correctly. Not sure why. It'll sync the first hour, then it won't after that.

Are there other free softwares out there I could try? Is there a bug with W2K Pro with the times. These DELLs are less than 3 months old. Any help would be appreciated.

Bump!

My wife's refurb Dell 4300s also can't keep time worth a crap. OS is WinXP Home. Never tried replacing the mobo battery, though. That would be my first guess, strange for such a new pc. So I too would like to find an answer.

Good luck!

There are many Timekeepers available some are free. WinXp has its own built-in timekeeper service. You may just need to turn it on and point it to a preferred time server. Here is one I use in Win2000.

Thanks all for the help. Found one that would work now. Let's see if it still work after several hours later. 🙂
Strangest thing about our DELL machines, after the sync (using NISTIME), just 30mins after sync....it drops back to 4 mins behind again! How can this be?

These machines are about 3 months old only!!!!!! It's not like they can't keep up with times....it just like to be 4 mins behind the atomic clocks. Even if nothing has done to these machines in weeks...it'll still be 4mins behind the actual time.

EagleKeeper,

Many thanks for your links. I found this software called "about Time" and it works like a charm. I had it sync every 5 mins. So far, it's still working!!!! yeepee!!!! 🙂
