system build

I have to create a dvd from video tape and then make copies. (a lot of copies!)
I would like to build a system that would have a bank of 8 or 9 dvd/rw's (nec, pioneer, maxtor etc.) that would make copies at the same time. anyone have any ideas on how and what to use for this? i don't have a clue but i've built a few computers and thought i might be able to do it with some of your help. thanks

If this is just a one-time shot, you might consider finding a duplicating business to do it for you; it would cost you less overall. You could build a system with between 5-7 DVD-RW's, depending on the tower size. Or you could buy the duplicating tower systems that you hook to your PC, depending on the number of drives, they run from ~$900-$2500, more if they include label printers.
Building one for use would be fun and educational, but expensive. You'd need a large PSU (550-700Watts), a couple of IDE controller cards to handle the extra optical drives, a nice big hard drive (>200GB) to hold your DVD images, lots of RAM (to the limits of your motherboard, good CPU (>2.8GHz).
