System "beeping" under high cpu utilization

I've used my current PC for three years now and before now I've never had cause to worry but lately something inside my machine makes a great deal of noise whenever my processor is being relatively pushed.

For a while I didn't know why it was going all Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeep! at all. Then I noticed in Task Manager that every time it ever makes the irksome noise, taskmanager is showing my cpu utilization to be at 80% or more.

High cpu use is nothing out of the normal for me. My Core 2 Duo E6750 gets pushed every time I game on my PC, that's nothing out of the ordinary. But in three years my machine never "complained" even when it was pushed to 100%. Why it now goes ballistic now when it hit's 80% or so has thrown me for a loop. The screeching beep noise my system emmits is very annoying and would suggest that something is very wrong, so any advice would be most appreciated.

How hot is your CPU running? Maybe you have a BIOS setting to give a warning above a certain temp.

According to Easy Tune the cpu is running at 49c / 120f under full load. Is that pretty far out of the ordinary?

What I don't understand is that I've done nothing different for the past three years under the same system and same games.

I was thinking this exact same thing.

Maybe something else is overheating and thus causing the beeping.

Try looking up your motherboard and troubleshooting guides for that, as it might give you a clue as to why the beepin is going off

49c is not hot at all. What are your sys specs?

Is there a small fan on a chipset? I had one that would get stuck and not turn - resulting in beeping.

When was the last time the inside of computer was cleaned of dust?

Gigabyte BIOS have a whole bunch of "beep producing" settings under the "PC Health Status" section, including processor max temperature and different fan failures. As others mentioned, my guess is you have the "max processor temperature" set low enough that your CPU is getting hot enough under load to set off. I would check that setting and also double check your temps with Core Temp or a similar program.

As others have said- temp. sensor or you could have a fan slowing down if not stopping. It could also be a voltage falling below a threshold. Check/clean your power supply while you're investigating and have it open.
