Just out of the blue, my system has become extremely unstable. Whenever a load up a game, my system just locks up either in a black screen or a full artifact screen. I thought this was the video card but oddly enough, it even does this if I load CS:S or DoD:S (it locks up before it even hits the main menu screen) but ATITool and other benchmarks work fine. This is happening in a few other games as well.

I tried swapping out my sticks of Ram but they seem to be working fine. My video card is maxing out at high 60s load in game so that shouldn't be it. I cranked up all my fans and AC to see if it was a heat issue but that doesn't seem like it is. Backed down my OC as well but still crashes.

I'm thinking it could be time for a format but I hate formatting, especially if that isn't the cause.

Just wondering if anyone could think of something I didn't (I don't think it's the PSU, Vid Card, Ram or any hardware really since I just reinstalled Vista on another HDD and it is working fine - although I am installing a game as we speak to try out, but ATITool and rthdribl work fine).

Running Memtest from within Vista now, no errors at 45min or so with 100% Memory and CPU Usage. So doesn't seem like it's that (or PSU for that matter...). This is quite odd.

Yep. But even if it were the video card drivers, wouldn't that have messed with the various benchmarks I ran (Furmark, rthdribl, ATITool)?

Now it seems to be working fine again. Which is quite odd because I haven't done anything since the last time it locked up besides memtest.
