Well, all had been fine here with several systems and switches and a router. Speed with Comcast very good...4MB down and about 384k UP.

About two or three weeks ago we did a live update and both XP systems have been VERY slow ever since. Aps take longer to come up and upload speeds (speed test) have dropped to 2 K!!! I have 1 system that did not update and it still seems fine along with an older Win98SE system that still shows fast uploads.

Does anyone know what may have caused this and is there an update I can remove to fix this?

TIA,
Dave

UPDATE.

I am sure it has something to do with two of the XP systems. The Third is also XP and is up to date as well.

However, can there be something that spybot does not detect that can slow this system down so much? 1 has 335K Upload speed and the other two are now <<<50!!

SafeMode with networking does not help. Any ideas?

TIA

Have you tried to do a system restore back before you last updated? I ahve all my systems up to date with the latest security updates and I haven't had any slowdowns on mine three computers??? I usually only do the security updates and carefully selected other updates as needed, which is very rare.

Well, I just fixed one of the two systems. I did an update and it got 3 critical updates. All is OK.

BUT, the main system says there are no updates. I could look at the update numbers on the good system now ( the ones that d/l yesterday ) and remove them from the bad system. Then connect and force the update again. However, how do I uninstall three updates? I assume once I do that and reboot, Windows Update site will reload them.

TIA

Well, I did not do any driver updates. I have my wifes system running fine now and did an update again on this one. It got 8 updates today...but still my upload speed is VERY bad. I notice she still has two updates that never are sent to this system.

Anyway, it sure does not seem like spyware. I don't know what else to even try!
