Syracuse area folks

I need a trustworthy place that can do a front end alignment on my 4x4 Dodge Ram. I'm fairly new to the area and haven't had the need for a mechanic till now.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Liverpool, but it really doesn't matter. I'm just looking for a trustworty shop in the greater Syracuse area. My mechanic back home is going to be racing the next weekend I'm down there (400 miles away).

What brought you to that area?

A job of all things. Knowing what I know now of central NY, I'm surprised that there are any companies left.

Onondaga county is headed straight for the crapper in a big way now that they've raised the sales tax again. Nobody will buy a vehicle here. They'll head up to Oswego county or any place with a significantly lower sales tax.

I swear the people who run Syracuse are idiots.

reason I ask that because there is barely anything there other than the university. The economy tanked and is still tanking.

I bring my car to Canetta's on Charles Ave. on the west side of town (Solvay, just off W. Genesee St.). I've been taking my cars there for about 4 or 5 years now, and they've always been good. It's a bit of a hike from Liverpool, but I can ask some of my friends if they know any place that is closer.

No kidding. I can't believe that the people up here are dumb enough to vote for the tax, tax, and tax some more politicians.

I'm seeing a few more years here, then I'm moving back to the Pittsburgh area.

You got a job in syracuse?
That is amazing.

And Lockheed is actually hiring at the moment. It's a real shock. I think it made front page of the local paper.

Really?
For manufacturing or something else?

I think I saw some non-manufacturing jobs listed.

Apparently the Bank of New York is planning to move into some recently renovated building here in Syracuse and is supposed to be bringing like 800 jobs. This was what I heard about a month or so ago and I haven't heard anything since, so I just assume that it's still going through.

Interesting, I know bank activity is very high in the area right now.
Which is why I moved into the cny area.

Tom, how do you think they'll do against Purdue this weekend. I'm not sure we'll win, but I'm excited to get to see Fields and Reyes play.

I'm in grad school at SU and I guess you could call me a townie since I've lived here all of my life. But hey, all that matters is that I have student season tickets for football and basketball. weeeeeeeeeeeee

I honestly don't think they're going to do much better than .500 this year. I said the same thing last year because outside of Reyes and Rhodes, they don't have much in the way of offensive threats. Hopefully Fields will spark the passing game a bit, but unless someone steps up and catches the ball consistently (unlike Johnny Morant last year), they're going to struggle. I really hope I'm proven wrong because I'd love to see them start winning again. I think they'll play solid against Purdue, but I don't see them winning the game.

I'll be at almost every one for both football and basketball.....I'll probably go to a few lacrosse games too.

way to hijack my thread. 😛

anyway, speaking of SU football ... I miss the Steelers, oh wait, that's not SU football .. anyway, the only game I'm going to is the homecoming game against Florida State. SU is going to get crushed.

Hey, everyone thought ND would crush us last year when they came to the Dome, but we sent them home with a loss. VT had the same thing happen the year before as well (in 3 or 4 OT no less). SU usually plays very well at home.....I think it is mainly because opposing teams are not used to the insane amount of noise in the Dome and can't hear play calls or audible that well. Gaining some speed on the turf doesn't hurt things either. You going to be in the student section for that game or elsewhere in the Dome?

-Tom

PS- I apologize for the hijacking, but at least I made an on-topic suggestion before the takeover commenced 😛
