Pre-Intro
An intro to an intro.
Well... I'm tired. This isn't a very descriptive telling of Dark Mirror, but as I mention below somewhere, I beat this game about one month ago and details have slipped from my mind. Plus I'm tired. But I need some sort of record for myself, and this just happens to be it.
The Good
Great Action.
The Bad
Main story seems complicated.
Intro
Syphon Filter is one of my favorite series. Or at least it was back on the Playstation. I?ve successfully guided Gabe Logan through Syphon Filter 1, 2, and now Dark Mirror. I don?t remember much about the original Syphon Filters, but I think they packed better stories and more action than is shown in Dark Mirror.
Story
The story is confusing. I wasn?t able to follow it with full understanding, but I think got the gist of it. However, the story still delivers some satisfaction. Along with the main story, there is a side story developing with it that reveals some of Logan?s past. Eventually it gets personal and the character comes alive.
Gameplay
I?m not exactly sure why this game is so much fun. But I think it has something to do with shooting people. I don?t remember much of the game ? it?s not exactly fresh in my memory right now. But I remember that it isn?t a stealth game. It suggests in some levels that you should be stealthy, but the AI isn?t very cooperative. I don?t think this game was made for stealth anyway. It was made so that you can shoot people. And it does that very well.
It?s not completely perfect gameplay. But I?m not remembering specifics at the moment that I can share. After all, I did beat the game almost one month ago.
Graphics
The graphics are amazing. Sure it only uses 16-bit color pixels, but because of that performance saved, the game shows excellent lighting and in some levels, even fog. It?s very impressive for a handheld. A few times I was dazzled by the amount of polygon detail there would be in a level and how realistic the lighting would look.
Grade: B+
I really enjoyed this game. I?m looking to buy Logan?s Shadow coming out next month. Dark Mirror offers great shooting and the best graphics I?ve ever seen on a handheld.
