I don't understand what it is with you people and the low wage thing. Aren't your shirts and shoes made by similar people getting a low wage? They may be low wage compared to where you're from, but I don't think they would continue working where they are if they thought they weren't getting paid enough.

The diamond industry has hurt parts of Africa but has also helped other parts. One diamond producing nation (can't recall which, but it was in the interior of Africa) uses the diamond money to fund FREE education for all citizens up thru PhD level studies.
