Just to throw in somthing to the highly technical Forums. How far along is the manufacturing of Synthetic Diamonds? Whats their respective price ($/gram)? Why are the black? Do they hold all the properties of regulare diamonds (extremly hard, Really good thermal conductor, electricaly unconductive)? And when will we see synthetic diamond CPU Coolers? :D

yes they work great just like real diamonds, they make em at my local university even lol. i think they cost less than real diamonds but will never be cheap because it takes so much energy to produce them.

Synthetic diamonds now consistently exceed the quality of natural diamonds and can be made to be basically flawless. There's talk that synthetic diamonds could very well break into the market for traditional diamond jewelry, in the absence of a "real" diamond marketing campaign, the quality of synthetics is consistently superior.

They have all the properties of natural diamonds because chemically and structurally they're the same, they're both perfect carbon crystals. The only difference is the origin, natural diamonds are created when geological forces crush existing carbon deposits into diamonds, whereas synthetics are created by applying great pressure on carbon in a factory/lab.

Do a search on google for more info. ;)
